Who is Jesus?
People ask lots of questions about God, like “Is God real?” or “Does God care about me?”
The Bible leaves several things a mystery to us, such as what Jesus did from age 12 years to 30 years, but it does tell us something very important—God showed Himself to us through Jesus.
Jesus once said, “If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen God” (John 14:9). That means Jesus is God!
C.S. Lewis once wrote, we can’t just call Jesus a good teacher, “Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher.”
So, Jesus really is God.
Jesus left heaven and came to earth to save us. That’s why His name is so special. He is our King, our Lord, our Savior, and our Friend. He is called “Immanuel,” which means “God with us.”
Where do you go from here?
Being saved means saying “yes” to God and His plan for your life. It means turning away from being focused on you and turning to Jesus. We accept His forgiveness for our sins and He gives us a new heart. The Bible says in Romans 10:9 that if you say, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Salvation is a free gift from God. When we accept it, we become part of His family forever. He renews our mind and heart and helps us live in a way that shows His love to others.
If you want to start following Jesus, you can pray this prayer:
Dear Jesus,
I know I’ve done wrong by living without You.
I’m sorry, and I believe You will forgive me.
I accept Your love and ask You to be my Lord.
Help me trust You, love You, and show others how great You are.
Amen.
Congratulations! If you prayed these words with a heart surrendered to Jesus then this is a new beginning in your life: A beginning that results in waking up every day and choosing faith over doubt, and hope over fear. A hope that only comes from following Jesus daily.
